Od studenta do profesora i od studenta do przyjaciela From a student to a professor and from a student to a friend Aleksander Szwedek Profesor Krzeszowski napisał, że był pierwszym doktorem wypromowanym przez profesora Fisiaka. Postanowiłem trzymać się tej konwencji i napisać, że jestem pierwszą osobą, w której karierze profesor Fisiak brał udział na wszystkich etapach – jako nauczyciel w czasie studiów (od drugiego roku), promotor pracy magisterskiej i doktorskiej, a potem recenzent habilitacji i profesury. Początkowo byłem Jego studentem, potem młodszym kolegą na Uniwersytecie Łódzkim, a w końcu nasze relacje stały się przyjacielskie. Nie muszę dodawać, że Jego odejście było dla mnie wielkim przeżyciem, także i dlatego, iż zdałem sobie sprawę, że z czasów łódzkich i początków dynamicznego rozwoju „Fisiakowej” anglistyki polskiej zostało już nas niewielu. Nasze pierwsze spotkanie miało miejsce w 1959 r., na pierwszych zajęciach drugiego roku anglistyki łódzkiej. Do Łodzi przyjechał reklamowany już wcześniej przez profesora Grzebieniowskiego młody, niezwykle utalentowany magister The title of this short note was inspired by Professor Krzeszowski’s remark that he was Professor Fisiak’s first doctor. To this I can add that I was the first person in whose career Professor Fisiak participated at all stages—as my university teacher, supervisor of MA thesis and PhD dissertation, and finally as a reviewer of my post-doctoral degree and professorship. At first, I was his student, then a colleague at the University of Łódź, and the relationship developed into friendship. I do not have to add that I was very much upset by his departure, also because I realized that from both the Łódź period and the beginnings of the dynamic development of ‘Fisiak’s’ Polish school of English studies, only very few of us are still alive. We first met in 1959 in the Department of English of the University of Łódź. The descriptive grammar lectures to the 2nd year students, of whom I was one, were taught by a newcomer from Warsaw, a young magister (MA) Jacek Fisiak. We heard about him in our 1st year from
